And I will add that being an expert*, I buy it too! Of course, my moon is also halfway Scorpio so I get the whole warrior-fertility spectrum thing lol
(*I doubt any Assyriologist would ever say they were "experts" in all of ancient Mesopotamia, most of us learn Akkadian and Sumerian, but then pick one to really specialize in, and a particular time period we like the most, and that's where we start becoming experts in *something* ahahaha)
Thank you!🙌🙌 Yes, it makes some sort of intuitive sense, right?? I’m missing so many pieces but for a roughly month’s-long dip in this subtopic, I feel content with what I’ve learned so far 😆 I want to do a side-quest on dogs🐕 and Gula soon as well, very intrigued!
I did see somewhere you're Libra though, and I'm a Libra rising, so maybe it's Venus-bias 😆
Hell yea!!! You know my old professor and supervisor for my master's thesis (Troels P. Arbøll) is a leading expert in Mesopotamian medicine and magic in the first millennium, I will pipeline you some references if ever needed! (Also his wife is like a hedgehog-biologist, they have written several articles together, like about the history of kissing, it's so adorable)
!!!! Yess pipeline anything anytime for real! 😆🙏🙌🎉 I will be looking up your old prof’s writings - also I love that bit about this wife! They both sound like exactly the kind of dinner guests I’d love to have over haaaaa
😆 hah my sun is in Libra, but my Venus is actually in Scorpio so there ya go, whatever that means exactly lol 🙈 anyways, Venus-bias sounds right 🫠😆
Aaah right, there it is 😆 I'm a cancer sun with a Gemini/8th house moon, but I've always had a lot of Scorpios in my life I think that did something 😆
Unfortunately I think a lot of the articles they wrote together are in Danish 😆 but at least some of Troels' work (he published some brand new cuneiform tablets from Hama in Syria last year) is English!
And man, the bane of my existence! Recently I was looking online for any resources on learning Akkadian on my own (which I decided to postpone bc the books people were rec-ing were too expensive and I got discouraged) but you know what, I’m probably better off learning French, German or Danish 🙈 Sigh/lol
:) You're more than welcome! I figure, by reading your work, M.E.'s work and others, I will eventually plug the holes in my knowledge about the ancient world. I've been more focused on the recent art vs. science conundrum, but need to expand my understanding. Looking back definitely adds to the picture.
That’s honestly a great approach! 🙌 And oh I feel that! The Art v science conundrum… I hope I’m around long enough to see how the chips settle eventually, it’s definitely a wild time to be a creator.
Thank you! And yesss, totally agree 🤩
This is a fascinating piece! With the disclaimer that I too am no expert, I can totally buy your argument about scorpions and fertility
Thank you! I really, really enjoyed doing the research for this one and your comment means a lot.

Absolutely does (to me haha)!

I so enjoyed this, Marina! I know very little about ancient history, but my curiosity bone has been tweaked :)
Hooray! As an ancient history nerd, nothing makes me happier to hear :))) Beth - thank you!

It’s a wild time to be ANYTHING these days. I also hope I live long enough to see things change.
Thanks! My interest in history parallels yours.
Thanks John! If it’s not too nosy to ask, what period/area/culture/theme/? has piqued your curiosity lately? 🤓
